Imported screen glass for mobile phones

Alkali-containing glass imports: saved customers 13% in taxes and duties.

The provisional import tariff rates are more favorable rates applied by the state to certain key raw materials for industrial and agricultural production as well as to mechanical and electrical products. Alkaline glass used in mobile phones is one such product eligible for these provisional rates. However, without a clear understanding of their processing methods, compositional content, and other relevant factors, you could end up paying taxes and duties that are more than ten percentage points higher than those of your peers. Our company’s dedicated customs compliance team, when clients are uncertain about the correct product classification code, identifies the critical issues and, drawing on over a decade of specialized expertise, provides professional, compliant advice. For instance, an optical company in Shenzhen had long been troubled by excessively high tax liabilities before engaging our services. After we took over, we thoroughly reviewed all of the client’s documentation and determined that the product qualified for the preferential tariff rate.

Clothing Import and Export

China is a major exporter in the textile industry, with its apparel export trade experiencing rapid growth.

In recent years, in particular, companies, driven by their growth objectives, have increasingly moved away from relying on trading firms to handle import and export operations in favor of conducting such activities independently. However, lacking practical experience in import–export customs clearance and with unclear requirements for apparel imports and exports, many encounter a host of operational challenges. In fact, only certain types of imports require commodity inspection and an entry clearance certificate; upon receipt of a client’s documentation, our company categorizes the goods and files the appropriate declarations based on the specific circumstances. For instance, a garment company in Dongguan engaged our services and successfully resolved a series of issues. After years of collaboration, they confidently affirm that they made the right choice in selecting our customs brokerage firm.

Red wine import

A Shenzhen-based wine import–export company, having been established only in 2015, had virtually no expertise in the import and export of wine. Despite its strong financial resources and a comprehensive product portfolio, it struggled to find a suitable customs brokerage partner. After extensive research, the company ultimately engaged us. We distilled the following three key lessons and successfully assisted the client in completing its first shipment of imported wine.

1. Screen high-quality overseas suppliers to ensure efficient approval of commodity inspection filings.

2. Ensure proper filing of all relevant documentation, including warehouse and label requirements, in accordance with the pre-shipment inspection requirements of the domestic declaring entity.

3. Benefit from customs clearance facilitation measures and enjoy the expedited customs release channel.

Since the smooth customs clearance of the first shipment, the two parties have maintained cooperation to this day.

Customs declaration for rubber granules

A Shenzhen-based trading company engaged our firm to file a customs declaration with the Huanggang Customs in Shenzhen for AC2300-grade PC/ABS granules of a certain brand. During the review of the declaration details provided by the client, our customs declarant identified a discrepancy: the stated composition—28% PC and 68% ABS—was inconsistent with the tariff classification under HS Code 390740000. Upon verification with the client’s operations staff, it was confirmed that the composition of this particular grade of granules was correct; the error lay in the code provided by the client, which should have been HS Code 3903309000. Further investigation revealed that, when the same grade of granules was first imported into Guangzhou, the client had consistently used HS Code 390740000 and benefited from ECFA duty-free treatment. However, under the two different tariff classifications, there is a 6.5% difference in the applicable duty rate. In light of this, our firm issued a risk warning to the client. Subsequently, the client recognized the seriousness of the issue and promptly corrected the error to mitigate potential customs clearance risks.

The company was highly satisfied with our expertise and, following six months of collaboration, recommended us to its industry peers.

Shipment of packaging materials

Shipment of packaging materials

At a factory in Dongguan, packaging materials are produced and shipped exclusively to meet customer order requirements, typically via a streamlined assembly-line process with minimal inventory buildup. Consequently, there are extremely stringent time-sensitive demands for customs declaration and clearance. When the client approached us, their primary request was for faster and more accurate customs brokerage services. Since taking on this assignment, our dedicated customs brokerage team has consistently delivered the fastest and most efficient service, earning high praise from the client. Over the past three years of close collaboration, we have resolved the vast majority of the client’s challenges, resulting in a substantial increase in production volume at the factory.
